Honesty
Being honest with oneself is one of the hardest things to do. To look at yourself honestly and truthfully and from a place of humility can be very challenging. To see that we are the ones that are making ourselves suffer can hurt. It can make you mad at yourself. It can make you angry. To see that all your desires and wishes driven from the ego were in turn actually making you suffer can make you feel like the worst person in the world. As you see through your own illusions and grasping at things and limiting beliefs, it can feel like WOW is this really me. It can be quite a shock as you realize that you have been the captain of your own ship the whole time and you were the one who has been making yourself suffer. Not the world. Not your job. Not your housing situation. Not your relationship. But YOU.**
To come face to face with this in raw honesty is so hard, but a necessary part of the process. It means that you are bringing awareness to everything. And without awareness you cannot change. Awareness is the catalyst for change. And when you shine the light of awareness on every aspect of yourself that’s when things really begin to shift. That’s when you can unhook yourself from the relentless thinking mind, and beliefs that are holding you back and the insatiable ego. That’s when the light of truth can shine through. And when you realize that you are not any of those things at all, but instead you are life force, empowerment, pureness, and radiant light at your core. That’s when the momentum really builds.
I have been there. I have come face to face with myself many, many times. And I had to be truly honest with all the safety walls of illusion I had built up and all the misguided beliefs and ego driven fear I was shrouded in. And when you come face to face with all of this, it can be really, really hard. You can get mad at yourself, and feel like you are the worst person. But this is all part of the process. And as you become aware, change is ripe, change happens and you can shift to being your truest self. The real you. We all have dark and light within us. And to come to our darkness with humility and honesty and awareness is all we can do. The light and the truth of who you really are then takes over and springs forth in, yes, an extremely challenging process, but also so beautiful.
Be honest. Shine the light of honesty within yourself. And then see what happens.
**Now with the asterisk that this is not always true as some people do indeed have situations that they need to leave/move on from. Own your truth. Whatever that might be.
